A Parisian New Year

My last few minutes of 2013 were spent patiently waiting under the Eiffel Tower, waiting for this spectacular celebration that I had been looking forward to for months. Well, the new year came and although fireworks were absent and the "celebration" wasn't too much of a celebration, I spent my first 5 minutes of 2014 watching the Eiffel Tower glitter and yelling "bonne annee". I can easily say that this New Years Eve was one to remember. Even though there were a few things I'd like to forget, i.e. an old Turkish man not just grabbing my butt, but GRABBING my butt and taking a piece with him, and being squished between a mob of hundreds of drunk and angry people trying to get onto the metro. Nonetheless, we made it to our flat 2 hours later, but most importantly, SAFELY.
The next 4 days of 2014 were spent wandering my most favorite city. It's interesting that no matter how many times you visit someplace, you will always find something or someplace new. Paris is no exception. I could never get sick of walking around this city and falling even deeper in love with it.
From people watching on the Champs Elysees, crepes, to all the typical tourist stops, it still was impossible to see ALL that Paris has to offer but we tried our best.

A few highlights of my Paris trip include:

**Pont des Arts (AKA the love lock bridge)
I know this is super cheesy and cliché of me to add my lock to the thousands of others just like all the other young girls or couples in love, But I couldn't help myself. My lock with "2014, Adventures Abroad" scribbled on it represented my love for other lands and my desire to see the world. I made my wish, kissed the keys, and tossed them into the Seine.

the last look at my keys

**CREPES
For those of you who know me well enough to know how much I love crepes, also knows how many I eat (especially in Paris). Getting crepes from my favorite little stand deep within the Latin quarter and a coca cola light (for only 3.20 euro) has become a daily event during my trips to Paris. Whoever said you can't eat crepes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was obviously mistaken and didn't know where to get the best crepes.

**ANGELINA
Famous for their hot chocolate, Angelina is a charming restaurant/cafe located in one of the most beautiful parts of Paris. This was my first time actually eating inside Angelina, and it quickly became one of my most favorite parts of my trip to Paris. After a quick chocolate overload, I finally purchased my very own Angelina tea cup. Such a fun way to remember your trip to Angelina!

**LADUREE & DESIGNER WINDOW SHOPPING
You are not allowed to go to Paris without experiencing Laduree. The famous french macaroons are not only iconic, but they are dangerously delicious. My most favorite thing to do in Paris includes buying a box of macaroons and roaming the streets, which are lined with the most exquisite and mesmerizing stores, while savoring each macaroon. I love waiting until it is dusk and each designer store is lit up and you just admire the beautiful windows. (It's hard to get a pair of red soled shoes out of your parents when they are halfway across the world…)

Merci beaucoup, Paris for a magical time! This city never disappoints…Au Revoir!!

****************************** BACK IN ENGLAND

After sleeping in and getting an actual nights rest.. I'M FINALLY ADJUSTED TO THE TIME DIFFERENCE!! its a miracle.

We went to Sunday Roast at the local pub, Chequers. I'm not a big foodie but I can honestly say that of all the places I've traveled and all the places I've eaten, this was the best meal I've ever had!!
UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. Even thinking of it makes my mouth water. I had this amazing 3 course meal including, mini ribs (it was my first time eating ribs, and it was in England. I promise I'm an American), this amazing turkey and cranberry dish with this amazing stuffing (I hate stuffing and I ate every bit of this) and THE BEST DESSERT EVER, it was a salted caramel chocolate torte to die for. AHHHHH I'm dying even thinking about it.

Here are a few pics from the pub!!

I love how friendly people are here. We have made so many new friends!
So here's to you George, Andy, Jez, Napolean (Nap), and Simon! Thanks for your kindness and humor!

Oh how I have loved spending time with my favorite people. There's never a dull moment and we have way too much fun together especially our Jim Jam nights, cooking, and drive a-bouts!! It'll be weird not having my teammate and my cook-mate around but I can't wait to sneak off and visit them!! I LOVE YOU ED AND CAROL!!!

Tomorrow is our last day in Feltwell, and then it's home free to London for the rest of the Semester!!

CHEERS!!
xoxo
